چکیده

In this paper we summarize our results for two classes of hierarchical multi-scale models that exploit contextual information for detection of structure in mammographic imagery. The first model, the hierarchical pyramid neural network (HPNN), is a discriminative model which is capable of integrating information either coarse-to-fine or fine-tocoarse for microcalcification and mass detection. The second model, the hierarchical image probability (HIP) model, captures short-range and contextual dependencies through a combination of coarse-to-fine factoring and a set of hidden variables. The HIP model, being a generative model, has broad utility, and we present results for classification, synthesis and compression of mammographic mass images. The two models demonstrate the utility of the hierarchical multi-scale framework for computer assisted detection and diagnosis.

Hierarchical and spatial structures for interpreting images of man made scenes using graphical models

Hierarchical and Spatial Structures for Interpreting Images of Man-made Scenes Using Graphical Models The task of semantic scene interpretation is to label the regions of an image and their relations into meaningful classes. Such task is a key ingredient to many computer vision applications, including object recognition, 3D reconstruction and robotic perception. It is challenging partially due ...

Spectral and Spatial-Based Classification for Broad-Scale Land Cover Mapping Based on Logistic Regression

Improvement of satellite sensor characteristics motivates the development of new techniques for satellite image classification. Spatial information seems to be critical in classification processes, especially for heterogeneous and complex landscapes such as those observed in the Mediterranean basin. In our study, a spectral classification method of a LANDSAT-5 TM imagery that uses several binom...

Comparing Multi-level and Ordinary Logistic Regression Models in Evaluating Factors Related to Periodontal Clinical Attachment Loss

Background and Objectives: Periodontal disease is one of the most common oral health problems. Clinical attachment loss occurs in sever periodontal cases (CAL>3). In this study, we applied a classic regression model and the models that consider the hierarchical structure of the data to estimate and compare the effect of different factors on CAL.   Methods: This cross-sectional study was perfo...

Multi-scale context for scene labeling via flexible segmentation graph

Using contextual information for scene labeling has gained substantial attention in the fields of image processing and computer vision. In this paper, a fusion model using flexible segmentation graph (FSG) is presented to explore multi-scale context for scene labeling problem. Given a family of segmentations, the representation of FSG is established based on the spatial relationship of these se...

Medical Image Compression Technique Using Listless Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees and Contextual Vector Quantization for Brain Images

A hybrid image compression techniques has been developed to compress medical images. Due to the extensive use of medical images like CT and MR scan, these medical imagery are stored for a longer period for the continuous monitoring of the patients and the amount of data associated with images is large and it occupies enormous storage capacity. So, the medical images need to be compressed to red...
